Following the events of the 2021 tournament, Earthrealm is on the brink of collapse. The fragile peace between realms is shattered when a forbidden alliance is formed between Outworld and Netherrealm, led by the resurrected dark sorcerer Quan Chi and the brutal emperor Shao Kahn.

With Raiden now mortal, and the champions scattered, a new generation of fighters must rise — led by Liu Kang, now the God of Fire, and Johnny Cage, who’s finally stepping into his destined role. They must train new warriors and bring together legacy fighters for one final tournament that will decide the fate of all realms.
