Grizzly Man Mark Dumas: The Only Man Who Swims with a Polar Bear

Mark Dumas, a 60-year-old fearless polar bear handler from Abbotsford, British Columbia, shares a unique bond with Agee, a 16-year-old female polar bear. As the only person in the world who can swim with a polar bear, Mark and Agee have an extraordinary relationship. They regularly enjoy swimming together in Mark’s pool, sharing playful, affectionate moments in the water — a true testament to their incredible trust and connection.
This fearless duo doesn’t just swim; they wrestle, cuddle, and even engage in intimate moments like Mark kissing Agee and allowing her to gently place her huge jaws around his head, a stunning display of the deep bond they share. Agee, the world’s largest land predator, has been with the Dumas family since she was just six weeks old, living alongside their dogs and even being bottle-fed as a cub.
Alongside his wife Dawn, Mark trains Agee to star in high-budget TV ads and movies — Agee even appeared in the 1995 film Alaska when she was only a few weeks old. Over the years, Mark and Agee have become inseparable, proving that with patience, trust, and respect, extraordinary relationships can form between humans and wild animals.
This remarkable story of love, trust, and adventure between a man and a polar bear challenges our perceptions of what’s possible in animal-human bonds.
