19 Little Angels of Uvalde

19 Little Angels of Uvalde

On May 24, 2022, the small town of Uvalde, Texas, was forever changed when the laughter inside Robb Elementary School fell silent. Nineteen little lives — vibrant, full of promise — were taken in a senseless tragedy. These children, each with their own dreams of becoming artists, athletes, doctors, explorers, or whatever their hearts desired, were taken from this world far too soon.

In the midst of overwhelming grief and heartbreak, one man, Trey Ganem, chose to honor their lives in a way that would make their stories live on. Trey, a custom casket designer, took it upon himself to personally create 19 custom coffins — one for each child. The coffins, uniquely designed with themes that spoke to each child’s personality and dreams, became more than just a way to say goodbye. They became a tribute to lives filled with infinite potential.

Some coffins were adorned with superheroes, others with unicorns, dinosaurs, flowers, or butterflies — all symbols of the joy and beauty these children were meant to experience. Trey Ganem, in his quiet yet profound way, said:
“If they can’t live to express themselves, let their coffins tell their stories.”

Each coffin became a silent canvas, a quiet painting that captured the essence of each child’s dreams. They were a song without sound, a story without words, each one a symbol of the future that was never meant to be.

A Call to Action and Reflection

This act of love and respect for these 19 angels reminds us all of something important — a truth we cannot ignore:
Never let the world grow used to the sound of gunshots in schools.
Never let another child’s future be stolen in this way.

Though love cannot change the past, it has the power to soften the pain. The compassion that one person showed to another — the care, the effort, the thoughtfulness — has helped to heal some of the unbearable weight of grief. It is a small, but meaningful gesture that calls on each of us to do better, to honor these children by ensuring that no more lives are lost in such senseless violence.

A Prayer for the 19 Little Angels

As we remember these 19 little angels, we send prayers for their eternal peace. Their lives, though short, left a lasting impact on everyone who knew them. They were loved beyond measure, and their memory will live on forever in our hearts.

Let us pray for comfort for their families and for the strength to create a world where no more children have to face such heartbreaking violence. May their dreams and stories continue to inspire us to be kinder, more compassionate, and more vigilant in protecting our future — the children.

Rest in eternal peace, sweet angels.
