A Tribute to Branson Blevins: The Fighter Who Taught Us to Live Like Branson

Last night, as I reflected on all the people I’m thankful for, my thoughts went to my wife, my kids, my family, and my friends…
And then, they went to Branson Blevins.

Branson was just 11 years old when he passed away six weeks ago. “Hollywood”—as he was known—was the brave, joyful kid from Robertsdale, AL, who taught me, and countless others, about positivity, resilience, fight, and hope.

I first wrote about him in the summer of 2024, when he was battling Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia at MD Anderson in Houston. Despite the pain, the uncertainty, and the fear, Branson remained strong, joyful, and a natural leader. His spirit lifted everyone around him, and he faced each day with a heart full of courage.

When his options were running out, his parents, Donald and Nichole, took him all the way to Rome, Italy, where he conquered cancer—only to face the devastating challenge of a sudden adenovirus. But Branson never gave up. He kept fighting—for his family, for his loved ones, for every single person who believed in him.

If I were to choose a “Person of the Year” for 2025, my choice would be clear: Branson Blevins. The fighter who went to Heaven on October 16th.

Branson’s strength continues to remind us all of what it truly means to fight for the ones you love. And in his memory, I carry with me the lesson that we should all live like Branson—with unwavering strength, boundless love, and a heart that refuses to quit.

Rest in peace, Branson. You’ll always be our fighter.
