A Second Chance for Baby Bonobos at Lola ya Bonobo Sanctuary

Every rescued baby bonobo begins their new life here — in the warm, loving embrace of the nursery at Lola ya Bonobo Sanctuary.  This is where they receive everything they’ve lost: love, safety, and the gentle care they need to heal from the trauma of their past. With patience, time, and your invaluable support, these little ones grow stronger every day — learning to climb, play, and, most importantly, learning to trust again.

Once they are ready, they take the next step in their journey by joining a social group in a spacious forest enclosure, where they begin to develop the skills needed for life in the wild.  And, one day, they will return to their natural habitat at the Ekolo ya Bonobo Community Reserve — a place where they’ll help rebuild the future of their species and contribute to the survival of bonobos in the wild.

Each life saved here is a promise of hope, not just for these bonobos, but for the future of their entire species. Together, we’re nurturing the next generation of wild bonobos, and creating a brighter tomorrow for these remarkable creatures.
